It certainly isn’t headline news that profit margins are slim in the construction industry. Small savings can have a positive impact on profits. One avenue to increase that bottom line is to control the tools, equipment and materials losses that occur on construction project sites. At first thought, you may react by saying to yourself, that’s no big deal. However, reports suggest that contractors grossly under estimate the total cost of their losses. It is estimated that contractors only realize 10% of their actual losses.
To get a better perspective on how crime is affecting the Michigan construction industry, AGC MI has produced a brief questionnaire to find out what crime-related losses were incurred in 2009. Click here for the survey.

Disaster Relief Preparedness
Purpose: Disaster Relief Preparedness is a ready action plan designed to meet the challenges of a emergency situation, to aid the public and to assist in restoring community life to a level as near normal as possible.
In the event of an emergency the Michigan Department of Emergency Services utilizes the Disaster Relief Preparedness reference book which lists ready and able contractors willing to come to the assistance of governmental agencies that will coordinate disaster relief services to the public. The AGC of Michigan has been charged with the responsiblity of maintaining the reference book.
How to Participate : To participate, contractors must register their equipment availability with the headquarters staff. Contractors need only to complete a brief equipment availability form.
Questions: Any questions about Disaster Relief Preparedness can be directed to Pete Anderson, Safety Director at 517.371.1550. |
