Construction Safety Myths

One of the goals of Construction Safety Day is to clarify 'safety myths'. Below are just a few.  As you navigate through this site, watch for other myths.

Myth #1:  Structural steel connectors by common agreement can waive fall protection requirements above 30 feet if they believe using fall protection is a greater hazard.
Attend Steel Erection- “A Team Approach” for the answer.

Myth #2:  Guardrails are not required on a scaffold until the potential fall exposure reaches 10 feet.
Attend Scaffold Safety –“What are the Key Components of a Safe Scaffold” for the answer.

Myth #3:  Wall openings with a bottom height of 36 inches do not need to be protected.
Attend Fall Protection – “Controlling Fall Hazards on a Construction Site” for the answer.
