Construction Leadership Council : Charities, Events and Site ToursMeetings, Seminars, Events & Tours The CLC also sponsors a series of seminars throughout the year which focus on those topics of interest to CLC members and others seeking to learn the latest in on-site and management skills. Helping those in need and supporting the future of our industry is a focal point of the CLC. Fundraising or other assistance is provided each year to noteworthy charitable/non-profit groups such as Sweet DreamzZz, Ronald McDonald House, Toys for Tots and ACE Mentor of Michigan. Taking a tour of some of the most interesting structures under construction is a hallmark of the CLC. Tours are educational experiences as CLC members learn about construction techniques, materials used, safety procedures followed and other insights. Each tour is followed by a reception at a local gathering spot for food, beverages and networking. Recent Event(s):Membership Drive: You Are Building Projects – Now Build Your CareerMarch 24, 2010 The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) will be hosting a reception and informative meeting Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Stout's Irish Pub in Brighton beginning at 4:00 p.m. The meeting has been set so that current members can share their experiences and network with individuals who may be interested in becoming members of this energetic group.
Sweet DreamzZz Annual Charity EventMarch 2010 The AGC of Michigan and the Construction Leadership Council are pleased to support Sweet Dreamzzz Detroit. Sweet Dreamzzz is a non-profit organization committed to improving the health, well-being and academic performance of at-risk school-aged children by providing sleep education and bedtime essentials. A portion of your registration fee will assist Sweet Dreamzzz in advancing their mission. Soles 4 SoulsJuly 2009 Footwear is a basic need for many throughout the world to improve health. The CLC will establish drop of locations for gently used footwear to be donated to Soles 4 Souls to distribute to those in need. Sporting Clays Shotgun ShootAugust 27, 2009 At this annual fundraising event, shooters will have an opportunity to shoot 75 clay pigeons, take part in games, enjoy friends, family, colleagues, good food, beer, and prizes. Who could ask for more! 2009 CLC Site Tour - Beaumont Hospital - Phase 1, TroyA group of 25 individual toured the Barton Malow/Skanska joint venture project. Construction management and design/build services were performed by the joint venture for the William Beaumont Hospital project located in Troy, Michigan. The project broke ground in June 2007 with an expected October 2010 completion date. The project includes a 223,000-square-foot emergency center and critical care tower. Also included in the project is a three-story ambulatory care center, a vertical expansion of the West Tower, loading dock and powerhouse expansion, a 5,400-square-foot MRI addition, and a connector bridge linking the existing main campus to the new ambulatory center on the hospital's east campus. Walk A Day In My ShoesThe AGC of Michigan Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has organized a 2009 Walk a Day in My Shoes event was held during May 2009. The event was designed to expand trust and understanding between young architects and constructors by providing job shadowing activities. At a kick-off meeting on May 6, 2009 in Brighton, sixteen teams were formed with an architect and a constructor making up each team. The teams will then arranged to spend a half day at the others place of work, at their convenience, during the month of May. Teams were brought back together at a closing event June 24th to share their experiences.
